On Sunday the board of Directors for USNETO rode to check out a beautiful 6500 acre farm, that we will be using for our Spring JPTR. We were invited by the owner to see if we could use the property for one of our events. This farm is located in Clinton, NC which is on the eastern side of 95 due east of Fayetteville. We are in the planning stage and will keep you up todate.

FALL HAS ARRIVED IN THE CAROLINA'S

Looking out over the fields

Getting signed up for ride!!

Andersen Creek Preserve

Riding Group for ACTHA
The days have cooled and fall is in the air. I am going to try and post something once a week. I know it has been a while since my last. Over the last couple weeks I have started to ride again. My friend Sandra and I went to an ACTHA ride @ Lillington, NC. There were about 50 riders, it was held @ the Andersen Creek Preserve. Very nice place you can trail ride there and in hunting season they have guided hunts. For those of you who don't know about ACTHA, it is a competitive trail ride. There are 6 obstacles that you are scored on how well you and your horse maneuver This is on a well marked trail of about 6 - 7 miles. Usually takes about 2 - 3 hrs. It is not a timed event, so there is no hurry. After the ride they have a meal and awards for the best riders and horse. This is a national organization that have rides going on all over the country. http://www.actha.us/  is there website check them out.

Starting to cool off!!!

At last the days are going to start to get cooler. By this weekend it will be in the mid-80's, with night time lows in the 60's. Great riding weather. There is an event this weekend @ the Carolina Horse Park for learning all about fox hunting. It is being put on by the Moore County Hounds. You can come as an auditor or bring your horse and learn about safety riding in large groups. I have some friends participating in it. I will be going as an auditor. I will let you know how it goes.

TREC Competition 2009

I discovered TREC Competitions last year. What great fun. It is a 2 day event. The 1st day is trail riding with just a map and your compass. It is timed about 6 miles takes about 2 - 3 hrs. The 2nd day is devoted to an obstacle course with up to 16 obstacles to do in a set time. The 2nd part of the day is Master of Gaits, which is to demostrate how well you can control your horse @ the walk and canter. Your scores for the 2 days events is combined and the one with the best score wins. We were lucky to get 2nd place in our 1st competition. Really looking forward to doing it this fall.

My First Entry

I have enjoyed trail riding with my Tennessee Walking Horse gelding for many years. Bug and I have competed together for 11 years. We currently retired from the show ring, now we are doing what we enjoy. This is going be a diary of the rides we do and the places we visit. I currently live in Rockingham, NC, I moved here from Westminster, Md 2 years ago and have never looked back. I have found since I moved here that I fell into horse heaven. So join me on my adventures!!!!
